Botox

Botox

Botox, (Botulinum toxin)is a neurotoxic protein produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. It is used in medical and cosmetic procedures to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines by temporarily paralyzing or relaxing muscles in the treated area.

When injected into specific muscles, Botox blocks the release of a neurotransmitter called acetylcholine. This inhibits the muscle's ability to contract, resulting in a temporary reduction in muscle activity. By relaxing the muscles, Botox can smooth out wrinkles caused by repetitive facial expressions.

It's important to note that Botox is a temporary solution, and its effects typically last for three to six months. Repeat treatments are necessary to maintain the desired results.
